   Gentlemen's Playground has added a VIP room for the high roller who wants to spend an hour with his favorite dancer. A nicer, more relaxed atmosphere than the couch room.

    Restrooms have been remodeled and are now 1st class tiled floor and walls.

    The Playground remains a great value and a friendly place to hang out. Audience is mixed. Lots of couples.

   A great place to become your favorite watering hole with some of the best beer prices around.

   Sorry children, the club is now 21 year olds and over. No more 18 year olds allowed. Hallelujah!

   Lots of 2 for 1 dances and $1.00 "minute" dances. Even they are not selling shirts. Very good crowd on a Saturday night.

   What a gem for Rocky Mount! The Wize Old Man doesn't usually spend a lot of time at clubs outside the major metropolitan areas. This club; however, is an exception. Owned and managed by the same from the old Gentlemen's Playground that was in Roanoke Rapids before it was torn down to make way for yet another Walmart. Strange what some people consider progress.

     Roanoke Rapids' loss is Rocky Mount's gain! Of course the city officials in Rocky Mount have done everything they can to stop the club. Are elected officials suppose to represent all the citizens in a community, not just Baptists. It's a wonder Rocky Mount even allows movie theatres. Anyway, strip clubs in Rocky Mount have to either go with dancers covering the nipples or the dancer have to register with Big Brother and buy a license. At Gentlemens Playground they wear either pasties or latex. Do we have any lawyers out there who'd like to sue Rocky Mount?

    The building has served as both a strip club and a dance club in the past. A lot of changed. The main stage is large and medium height above the floor. About 3 steps so you don't have to strain your neck to tip the dancers on stage. It could comfortably hold three dancers dancing or 30 for an "introduction"  The side stage is much too high but you may prefer it since it's smaller so the dancers have to remain closer to the front. Lighting on both stages is excellent.

    Chairs. You can always tell the good clubs from the dives by the chairs. The top of the line clubs have deluxe seating with chairs that roll, have a back that wraps around. Similar to the kind of chairs you find in Larry Flynt's Hustler Club in Paris France, Teasers Mens Club in Durham or Thee Doll House in Raleigh.

     Gentlemens Playground offers Limo rides but the Wize Old Man will save a full review of that for later. It's quieter in the limo than it is in the club so you can carry on a conversation. Pick your entertainer with that in mind since that the only real difference between being in the club and being in the limo.

     P.S. -- Gentlemen's Playground has couch dances but not table dances.

    Scheduled to open September 4, 2003. Don't have an address or phone number but it's the same location that use to be Platinum. Just East of Tractor Supply. Take the Hwy 64 exit off of I-95, head East to Sunset Avenue exit. Second lift past US-301 on the left.

    This club is owned and operated by the some person who owned the Gentlemen's Playground in Roanoke Rapids until the property was sold for yet another big box discount store.

     When in Roanoke Rapids, this was a very popular club. Rocky Mount has some strange and repressive ordinances that require the dancers to be licensed, pay a $50.00 fee, and be subjected to random drug tests. The problem is that a lot of dancers do not want a public record listing there real name and address that any stacker can get at city hall.

     Customer's are also not allowed to put tips in the dancer's garter. They have to leave the money on the stage for the dancer to pick up after getting dressed. Nobody can explain to the Wize Old Man what sense that makes but then nobody every accused Rocky Mount of leaving the 18th century.
